After the IPL Hot, here’s comes the cooling effect. Its not “AXE effect”. Its Rainbow effect.

konkan- Memorable trip
February 13, 2009It’s a new year, and I wanted to go for a trip. Actually this is the time I take my annual leave. Yes, because my birthday falls in this month 20th. As my leave was already sanction for 2 weeks I did’nt know where should I go. Finally After a very long discussions where to go, we finally decided to go KONKAN. When I say we decided its means ME, UMESH AND SAMEER we’re all from the O&M office. Earlier we’re thinking of going to NEPAL – 5days. But due to some problem, one of the monetary also we decided to trip to KONKAN. And trust me its was hilarious. I ‘ll take you through the entire trip description in very short. here we’re!
DAY1-WEDNESDAY: MORNING – 8.00AM – THANE STN:
Me and Umesh took the train from Thane whereas sameer boarded from Dadar. The day time journey went smoothly – chatting, getting down the train in various stations and off course some time for went sleeping too. And finally we landed to KUDAL station at 9.00 pm in the evening. Umesh’ jiju was waiting outside the station with his car ready to pick us. We got introduce to each. Believe me JIJU was great . You’ll come to know how. We’re now ready to go on our first place of the trip – AMBOLI.
AMBOLI – (our first Night stay): On the way we pick up our stuff like off course alcohol first, mutton to cook and some snacks item to survive in the night. Amboli basically its a waterfall place. It is paced right at the top of the mountain. Due to this it is almost cold throughout the year. We travelled in the night and we reached about 9.00 pm times. On the way jiju picked his some friend also to accompany us. And we reached Amboli. it was 9.00 pm in the night and we first decided to locate some place to stay. So we got the hotel room nearby only right at the entrance of the place. The hotel was almost full not because of the tourist but with the aryurvedic students. Most of them were girls. woh! We went to jiju’s friend place we our dinner was planned. Everything was ready from drink to the food. The dinner was in the open sky in the night with the drinks in the hand. And born-fire to enjoy.
Day2 – THURSDAY: AMOBOLI
After our long night fun we still manage to get up early in the morning. YA! 7.00 am in the morning. But only me and Umesh. Sameer was still sleeping so we decided not to wake him. We decided to go for a walk. On the way, walking we reach MAHADEV GHURD 2.5 KM away from our hotel. It was a very good walk though long but it was pretty interesting, nothing was bothering us, as we’re the only walking to that way. The place was silence, one can see only greenery and the quark of the birds around. We reached to edge o that point. It was full of wind, fresh air and view fantastic. Umesh got over elm and starting doing YOGA. Yes! “Breathe in and Breathe out” and top of it “Kapal Bharti”. Thing was hilarious.
Later,we saw ” Kavlesheth Point” – the beauty of that point is its got a very deep valley like an Echo point and also during the monsoon the place gets much over crowded like any other point in amboli. On the way actually we’re walking in mid afternoon passing through the sugarcane field and guess we pick the 3 sugarcane tree and started enjoying eating. After a longtime we got the lift – yes a truck. But unfortunately we’re asked to get down after very few meter long. But it was exciting. After a day long journey we had a lunch in a village where we literally beg them to please cook a food for us. Umesh was our man to talk to since he know the language. In the conversation ,the villager was actually the umesh neighbor in Sangeli house. They’re very kind and generous to us. A lal nanchni roti and sabji – actual malvani food. What we want in konkan trip, an home made konaki food. Great! Amboli Waterfall - its a very tall mountain with water falling literally from a great height – a must point to see And finally Haresnkasab point – actually this place is a temple with 7 caves attached”. And finally we’re on our second journey to reach SANGELI. Umesh’house. We reached there around 6.00 pm in the evening.
SANGELI:
YA! After a 1-2 hrs traveling we reached SANGELI. The Umesh’s house. The House was very beautiful surrounded by plants with Banana, coconut, Cashew, etc. His house was in the middle of tress and farm and no other houses, just the tress. Woh! We’re greeted by his parents with the black coffee with my demand and tea with sameer’s. We chatted with his father the retired military man with his stories he shared with us during his days. He shared how Sri-Lankan’s used to kill their enemies with the always coming up with new ideas. Sri Lankan’s we’re who we’re behind Rajiv Ghandi’s assignation. After that discussion we’re resting outside his house. (By the time food was getting ready). Below the open sky. I saw so many stars which never exits in the city. That is the one of the difference in city sky and village sky. Making again, village the best place to be. That night we first time we had a long chat among us. We shared our personal life and memories between us. Umesh shared his first poem he rot in his college time. His first girl friend and how is broke up. And there after sameer’s story about his love life and his breakups. Actually I was new to them as friends a only 4-5 months old in the friendship. Anyway, yet another night with Malvani home food. Her mom made a wonderful food with fish curry, fish fry, methi ki sabji, dal, rice and sole curry. I ate almost till my neck. Another peaceful sleep. Next Morning with the heavy breakfast, we’re ready to go to our next journey – Rangana Fort.
DAY3 – FRIDAY: SHIVAPURE-TREK TO RANGANA FORT – OVER NIGHT STAY:
Before going to the fort we went to Umesh’ uncle place. It was on the way. There again we had heavy Malvani launch and had some rest before trekking. Now it was the time for trek. We started trekking around 6.00 pm in the evening which is not good but we’re accompanied with the guide and the cook. Yes cook our plan was to on the fort. So we carried chicken, boose and blankets to sleep. It was 2 hours trek by he time we reach on the fort it was 7.30 pm. It s was pitch dark and we finally found a place to cook and stay. The guide and the cook started doing there work of cooking and collecting water from the lake. We roaming on the fort and looking on the open skies again full of stars. This time more stars then we saw in the village. And later our jijus joined us. Guess what he came lots of chicken and boose with him. The chicken seems as we’re cooking for 20 people whereas we’re only 9. Yes jijius has brought his friend to join us. We went enjoying our drink and cooking tandori on the fire. Woh! Great experience. Next morning our so called guide has showed the entire fort. The fort experience was amazing. We heard the tiger roaring in the night while rain deer in the morning while coming down. Now we’re on our next journey to ARAMBOL, GOA.
DAY4 – SATURDAY. NIWTI BEACH:
ARAMBOL, GOA: People who don’t know this place, I tell you that this place exist in Goa boarder. The beach is full of pirangs and very less crowded. The beach is very clean and clear. Much better that goa beaches. trust me its true. We spend few hours there roaming around watching the sunset deep in the ocean. We saw the market, the clothes and the item they selling its was looking a very cool place to be. Finally spending few hours, our net journey was to “NIWTI” - fish auction place-comes in Maharashtra boarder. On way to NIWTI we’ve to take feri boat to across the GOA boarder. It a 10.00 min feri crossing. After we crossed the goa boarder we saw the TERAKOTA FORT. TERAKOTA FORT is a now converted into a heritage hotel. A hotel which cost around 14,000/- a day couple. We didn’t stay there, our place was already booked in NIWTI, again jiju’s has arranged this place for us. FREE OF COST. We reached lated in the night around 10.00 pm. Jiju’s friend tooks us on the beach in the night itself to show how it looks in the night. I felt like having a boose on the beach. But i was so tired, need a sleep. Infant everybody was tired because of the whole day travelling.
DAY5 – SUNDAY. NIWTI BEACH:
After a well slept night, i got up early in the morning and went on the beach for a walk. It was pleasant walking in the morning on a beach with SUN rising. We sas the FISH AUCTION happening. It last only for 15-35 mins. Its fun. We did DIL CHAHTA HAI act. like fish eating al those nonsense. After the breakfast we left for TARKARLI – MTDC Hotel. While going to TARKARLI we actually reached a place called DEVBAUGH. The place was actually a back water where the river water meets the sea water. We can actually see the two water meeting each other. We spoke to the boat man if he can ride into the sea for 2.00 hrs or so. The boat riders shows you the DOLHIN, SOME BEACH AND THE ISLAND. We requesting him to show only the ISLAND not hte DOLPHINS so as to cut the cost. Anyways who wants to see DOLPHIN. After much discussion he agreed. Then what, we went wild. We took our boose on the boat and started drinking. After 10.00 min ride we reach to the Island. Woh! The Island – heaven on Earth. we fainted by seeing. So what, we got our clothes off and dip into the sea. It was as wonderful experience I ever had. After a 2/2 hrs enjoyment we left to TARKALI. We reached within a 1/2 hrs time. Its was a decent place. We checked the hotel, it is costly, over prize. Anyway, we decided to have launch but the hotel was closed. So, we left that place and headed to KUDAl, our last destination, to catch our train back to mumbai.
After a 5days trip to konkan, this experience was never to forget. I recommend others to have a at least 5-10 days trip KONKAN once in the life time. I hope after reading this people will rush to see KONKAN TRIP. The picture are upload here, http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=87110&id=548764534

India on the moon: Chandrayaan-1 successful
October 22, 2008Chandrayaan-1, India’s maiden moon spacecraft, was put into Transfer Orbit around the earth by the Polar Launch Vehicle PSLV-C11 after it blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
The 1,380 kg Chandrayaan-1, carrying 11 payloads, was released into a Transfer Orbit 18.2 minutes after the PSLV-C11 blasted off.
After a series of procedures over the next two weeks, the spacecraft would reach its desired Lunar orbit and placed at a height of 100 km from the Lunar surface, marking the operational phase of the mission which would put India in the elite lunar club.
Earlier, at the end of the 49-hour countdown, the 44.4 meter tall four-stage PSLV-11 lifted off from the second launch pad into a cloudy sky.
This is the 14th flight of ISRO’s workhorse PSLV, which had launched 29 satellites into a variety of orbits since 1993, and 13th successive one in a row.
Chandrayaan-1 is carrying 11 payloads, five entirely designed and developed in India, three from European Space Agency, one from Bulgaria and two from US, which would explore the Moon over the next two years.
Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman G Madhavan Nair described the successful launch as a historic moment in India’s space programme.
“The launch was perfect and precise. The satellite has been placed in the earth orbit. With this, we have completed the first leg of the mission and it will take 15 days to reach the lunar orbit,” Nair announced in the mission control centre.
Speaking to NDTV, Chief of the Indian space program Madhavan Nair gave details about the moon mission.
NDTV: What will it do sir? Is it carrying human beings?
Madhavan: No. This is actually a totally instrumental system
NDTV: So it is an unmanned satellite?
Dr G Madhavan Nair: Unmanned satellite, and it is mainly, almost like our earth observation satellite. This is going to observe the moon.
NDTV:: So it will essentially map the moon one can say?
Dr G Madhavan Nair: Absolutely. In fact today maps are available for certain specific regions with a lower resolution. Here we have got imaging systems which will give almost 10m resolution. So it will be a precise image of the entire surface.
The rocket that is carrying India’s first unmanned satellite to moon is as high as a 7-storey building and weighs nearly 300 tonnes.
One after the other, four stages of the rocket will ignite taking Chandrayaan higher into space.
The Chandrayaan will first make a few revolutions around the Earth so that it gathers enough momentum to reach the moon.
But it will take several days before it covers the 4 lakh kilometers to reach its destination.
The satellite will be captured by moon’s gravity and initially it will revolve nearly a thousand kilometers from the moon’s surface.
But finally it will move closer to nearly 100 kilometers literally over the moon.
Once that’s done, it will spend the next two years mapping the moon’s surface and sending data to India.
And among the first things it does will be to plant India’s national flag on the moon.
Then as part of its many other challenging objectives the multi-continent mission will begin the most intense search ever undertaken for life giving water on the moon.
“We have designed and built this instrument for Chandrayaan-1 to search for the water ice over the lunar poles and will be most extensive search of this type in history,” said Dr Stewart Nozette, NASA and Lunar Planetary Institute, Houston, USA.
Once scientific data has been gathered by the satellite, sending it back to Earth will be a big challenge.
Digitally talking to the mooncraft will not be easy as the satellite will be almost 4 lakh kilometers away. And to gather the faint signals a dish antenna that weighs 60 tons has been set up at a small village called Bylalu near Bangalore. Part of the hi-tech data centre is still being constructed at the village where labourers sweat it out without even knowing that their efforts are taking India to outer space.
